I am a PhD student supervised by Julien Lagarde working on the impact of musical enculturation on basic sensorimotor synchronization abilities. Several studies have documented that we produce and perceive more easily our culture specific musical rhythms specific. However, it is still unkown whether this enculturation process acts on the most basic rhythmic capabilities. My PhD work focuses on these basic rhythmic abilities, by recruiting Indian and French participants in synchronization tasks involving regular rhythms.
