Abstract
Climate change is increasing the frequency, intensity, duration and temporal amplitude of heat waves. Their impact on health is therefore a major issue. Over and above individual risk factors, the vulnerability of populations to heatwaves can help guide public policies on adaptation and resilience. It is for this reason that the PACTES Chaleur team has defined a heat vulnerability index that aggregates commune-level data for metropolitan France on ground temperature, social disadvantage, air-conditioning equipment and vegetation cover. This data paper describes these data, their scientific interest and the technical and legal conditions for their reuse.
