Abstract
This curriculum is designed to equip public health, community health, and social work practitioners with the knowledge and skills needed to address key issues surrounding epidemics, with a focus on their social, anthropological, historical, and public health dimensions. It consists of 10 modules covering various operational issues, accompanied by an appendix to facilitate the organization and evaluation of training sessions based on this document. The modules draw primarily from examples of epidemics such as HIV, Ebola, COVID-19, cholera, and plague, from Africa, Asia ans Europe, provided by 25 authors with field experience, and introduce social science concepts useful for addressing epidemics. These examples highlight the role that social scientists can play and lay the groundwork for collaboration with public health specialists and field practitioners before, during, and after epidemics.
