Résumé
Building on a two-month scientific mission within the Malindi-Watamu Arabuko Sokoke Biosphere Reserve, the goal of this Expertise Mission led by the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) in partnership with Local Ocean Conservation and the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) was to combine scientific knowledge with conservation practitioners’ and local fishers’ knowledge to explore the contribution of fisherfolk in marine conservation through the case of the Malindi-Watamu marine protected area. The recommendations derived from this report aim to support LOC’s strategy on community development.
