The invention relates to a method for converting CO2 by means of biological reduction, comprising a step of contacting a liquid phase containing the bacterium Stenotrophomonas maltophilia with a gaseous phase containing CO2 under conditions that allow the production of formate and/or methane from said CO2. The method according to the invention can be carried out, in particular, in a closed reactor, a semi-closed reactor or a continuous reactor, optionally electrochemically assisted.
