The present invention relates to the use of microorganisms as biocontrol agents for the prevention and/or treatment of biocontamination in a fuel tank. The present invention particularly relates to a method for preventing and/or treating biocontamination in a fuel tank, comprising introducing at least one biocontrol agent into the tank. The present invention also relates to a method for selecting at least one biocontrol agent, as well as a composition and a kit comprising a biocontrol agent.
