This video illustrates the variations in relief (i.e., the deformation shape) of the painting La Sainte Trinité couronnant la Vierge (16th century, anonymous, Fabre Museum, Montpellier) when subjected to changes in relative humidity. The painting is placed in a climate-controlled showcase with glass panels on both sides, allowing observation of the front and reverse faces.The kinematic deformation values—including shape deformation, strain, and curvature of the panel—were obtained using a non-contact optical technique: stereo mark tracking, applied simultaneously to both sides of the panel. Continuous monitoring, with images captured every 30 minutes, was necessary to analyze the panel’s behavioral response.The aim of this study is to determine the experimental mechanical response of the panel painting before and after remedial conservation. The video presented here was recorded at the beginning of the conservation process, immediately after the frame was removed.
