Abstract
Driven by curiosity, stirred by a naturalist emotion or by discovery, enchanted and fascinated by observing and understanding the world around them and brimming with inventiveness, the scientist and the artist each perceive the world from their point of view. They comprehend it using their know-how, their tools and their instruments and translate it with their own words and sensitivity.New Caledonian anthropologists Catherine Sabinot and Emmanuel Tjibaou and visual artist Nicolas Molé met to examine the role of traditional knowledge in Oceania in the management of biodiversity, faced with the environmental changes we are currently experiencing. This meeting led to the creation of a digital animation and travelling installation. The latter offers visitors an immersive experience at the Tjibaou Cultural Centre in Noumea since the end of 2022.The project was supported by the IRD* and the IUCN**, and by cultural consultant Henri Gama, which also gave rise to an exhibition and a conference.* IRD (French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development)** IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature)
