Résumé

Natural selection is the main process in evolutionary theory and explains many aspects of the living world The concept of fitness aims to quantify it. This quantification is useful when seeking to establish a prediction, proof, measurement, and more generally to combine and evaluate the role and relative importance of different processes (selection, drift, mutation, etc.) in evolutionary phenomena.
