Résumé
The β-ketoimine CH
3C(O)CH
2C(NCH
2CH
2OCH
3)CH
3 (
1) has been synthesized. Characterization by infrared and
1H and
13C NMR spectroscopies indicates that the solution structure of
1 is the enol form. Compound
1 reacts with Cu(OCH
3)
2 in THF, at 25
°C, to give Cu[CH
3C(O)CHC(NCH
2CH
2OCH
3)CH
3]
2 (
2). This complex is low-melting (62–69
°C) and hydrocarbon soluble, but of only modest volatility (sublimes at 56
°C at 4×10
−5 Torr). A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study shows that the ether ‘arms’ of the ligand are not coordinated to copper. Thermolysis in the temperature range 200–237
°C, under an inert atmosphere, occurs to liberate free ligand (apparently via adventitious hydrolysis) and CuO, and the latter loses O
2 to give copper metal by 480
°C.

°C.
