A foldarotaxane supramolecular machine is reported by Yann Ferrand, Frédéric Coutrot et al. in their Research Article (e202413977) Depending on pH and concentration, discrete isomers were obtained. The machine operates through gliding of the macrocycle that induces the gliding of the helix along the axle, or via the swapping of the relative position of macrocycle and helix by dissociation and reassociation of the supramolecule. In some cases, the helix sequestrates the macrocycle away from its best station.
