The tribe Rondeletieae, as here circumscribed, is a predominantly neotropical group of trees, shrubs, and rarely herbs. In the Neotropics it is represented by approximately 42 genera and 340 species. The present volume is the first part of a series in which the monographic treatment of the neotropical Rondeletieae is planned. For this reason, a general definition and a taxonomic survey of this group, as well as a list of all the genera, their approximate number of species and their distribution, and a key to all the genera are included. This study originated as a revision of the tribe Condamineeae (sensu Hooker), a group of predominantly neotropical shrubs and trees (except Pinckneya from North America, and Bikkia and Badusa from the South Pacific), usually delimited by having valvate corollas and many-seeded capsules. The Condamineeae were subdivided by Hooker into three subtribes: Condamineinae, Portlandiinae, and Pinckneyinae. As a result of phylogenetic analyses using morphological characters, the Condamineeae (sensu Hooker) has been shown to be paraphyletic. The genera of the Portlandiinae have been transferred to the newly amended tribe Catesbaeeae sensu Delprete, and genera of the Condamineinae and Pinckneyinae transferred to the Rondeletieae, resulting in a complete dismantling of the Condamineeae. The Sipaneeae (Sipanea, Sipanaeopsis, Limnosipanea, and Neobertiera) are included in a broad delimitation of the Rondeletieae sensu Delprete. Additionally, Phyllomelia (with bi-seeded indehiscent fruits, i.e., pseudosamaras), recently treated as genus incertae sedis by Robbrecht, is also included in the Rondeletieae s.l., and believed to be related to Mazaea. The neotropical genera treated in the present monograph are those of the subtribes Condamineinae and Pinckneyinae, now included in the Rondeletieae, plus a few related genera: Rustia, Tresanthera, Condaminea, Picardaea, Pogonopus, Chimarrhis, Dioicodendron, Parachimarrhis, Molopanthera, and Dolichodelphys. Forty-six taxa, 40 species, and 6 varieties, are recognized in the 10 genera listed above. /// La tribu Rondeletieae, como está aquí circunscrita, es un grupo predominantemente neotropical de árboles, arbustos y raramente hierbas. En el Neotrópico la tribu está representada por aproximadamente 42 géneros y 340 especies. El presente volumen es la primera parte de una serie en la cual se está programando el tratamiento monográfico de los géneros neotropicales de las Rondeletieae. Por lo tanto, se incluyen aquí una descripción de la tribu, un listado de todos los géneros, con número aproximado de especies y su distribución geográfica, y una clave para todos los géneros neotropicales de este grupo. El presente estudio se originó a partir de una revisión de la tribu Condamineeae (sensu Hooker), un grupo predominantemente neotropical (a excepción de Pinckneya, endémico de Norte América, y Bikkia y Badusa endémicos del Pacífico Sur) de árboles y arbustos, usualmente caracterizado por corolas valvadas y cápsulas con muchas semillas.
