Résumé
Analysis of the way rivers become heritage is based on a comparison of two UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Val de Loire (France) & the Kadisha valley (Lebanon). This article seeks to highlight the spatial, temporal & stakeholders continuities/discontinuities in the conduct of the two projects. It situates the management of these sites within territorial dynamics around them. This twin perspective of patrimonialisation/territorialisation provides insight on the issues & conflicts that drive the management & conservation of natural & cultural resources of both countries.
