Résumé
Caroline Fayolle, Republican School Teachers (1793-1799).
Beginning with the first decrets on public education of October 1793, a network of public primary schools open to girls was progressively organized. The purpose of this article is to analyze the methods of recrutement of school teachers in these schools, and their working conditions and lives. Using chiefly the inspection reports, it is possible to study some educational practices and the politisation of their posts. Finally, this article will consider the discrepencies between the official discourse of the authorites concerning the profession itself, and the actual concrete situations experienced by these republican school teachers.
