Abstract
In the French audiovisual landscape, the Franco-German television group ARTE became involved very early on in the development and support of “innovative” digital content. In this paper, we analyze five of the ten 360° VR productions included in the ARTE Trips art history collection. We examine the relationship to the initial works offered by these digital devices in terms of both the experiential promise and the ways in which encounters with the paintings are mediated.
