The relationship between adherence and virological response to antiretroviral drugs in people with HIV (PWH) appears quite trivial at first look. Suboptimal adherence leads to lack of control of viremia or rebound of previously undetectable plasma HIV viral load and secondarily to resistance, durable failure, notwithstanding the ecological risk of persistent transmission of more and more resistant strains.
