Abstract
This article presents the ecological characteristics of the low-lying Languedoc coastline, and its lagoon environment. Coastal rivers play an important role in the dynamics of the coastal strip, and even more so it's increasing urbanization. Concerns about the preservation of "natural" areas are struggling to take precedence over other social usages of the Languedoc coast.
