Abstract
Which public policies approaches do SMEsprefer to support their social responsibilityactions? Are there differences between countries?A study based on 300 SMEs in Franceand Quebec shows that they prefer supportiverather than coercive approaches. SMEsin both regions react in a similar mannerto the majority of policies they were presentedwith. Quebec SMEs, however, seemto better accept coercive approaches andare more sensitive to financial incentivescompared to French SMEs. These differencesare analysed based on the culturalspecificities of each country.
