An efficient liquid medium culture method for the screening of Fusarium moniliforme for the production for fusarins and fumonisins was used to stress strains from Europe. From the 27 corn samples analyzed, 16 strains of F. moniliforme were isolated. Of these, 13 produced measurable amounts of fusarins A, C and F in liquid culture while all 16 strains produced fumonisins B1 and B2. The production of fusarins and fumonisins were not correlated. This the first report of fusarins and fumonisins production of liquid medium culture by F. moniliforme from Europe.
