Abstract

Modelling Tensile Test Localization Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) SMAT Nanocrystalline Materials
In order to obtain the macroscopic mechanical response of a 316L stainless steel, nanocrystallized by a SMAT treatment, a multilayer model is proposed. The constitutive behaviour of each layer is determined from tensile tests or by an inverse method and its thickness is evaluated from SEM and TEM micrographic analyses and local hardness measurements. The consistency of the model is verified by its ability to predict the strain at which diffuse necking occurs.
