Résumé
Mononuclear phagocytes are key cells of acute and chronic inflammatory responses. During exercise, monocytes are rapidly mobilized, and they express inn-eased levels of adhesion molecules. Depending on the intensity and type of exercise, different monocytic responses can be observed. However, cytokines released by monocytes such as IL-6 and TNF-a are increased after exercise. Mononuclear cells may he involved in muscle damage following exercise. Although more data are needed to fully understand the importance of monocytes in exercise, this cell type appeals to have some important effects in modulating the immune response following exercise.
