Abstract
La Renaîtrie in Châtellerault (Vienne, France) is a La Tène settlement (2nd phase of the regional La Tène chronology, a middle-late vth century BC). Extraction pits and a ditch were discovered. Artefacts comprise some exceptional pottery : stamped decoration figuring griffons/ dragons, red and white “ painted” geometric designs. A fragment of Ionnian amphora (Samos or Millet) testifies to the existence of commercial relations with the Mediterranean area. This is a key settlement to the understanding of the origins of the La Tène culture in western Gaul.
