Abstract
Often in historical research the empirical validation of theoretical assumptions requires the handling of an important volume of data. Once collected, these data should be structured in order to facilitate their conservation or use. The use of the Relational DataBase Management System (RDBMS), efficient and easy to handle, becomes therefore indispensable. The aim of this article is precisely to describe the organization of data used as support for cliometric or econometric analysis. The paper details the stages of the creation of a database with the main ambition is to store, organize and structure economic and demographic time series resulting from various countries during the 19th and 20th century. Our framework, even based on a precise example, can be generalized to other data management tasks.
