Abstract
Many travertine systems fossilized plant remains. Their identification at the species level allows the understanding of vegetation dynamics at local spatial scale. Different examples in this article show the importance of these deposits to understand the past history of some woody species or provide information on the evolution of Holocene palaeoenvironments.
