Résumé
The Grapevine Red Blotch Disease was recently identified in the Napa Valley in California and attributed to a circular DNA virus. The sequencing of the virus, called Grapevine Red Blotch-associated Virus (GRBaV), has provided tools for its detection, including PCR. A survey showed that the GRBaV is present in other growing areas of the North American continent. This virus was also found in the state of New York and called Grapevine Cabernet franc-associated Virus (GCFaV). Although the presence of this virus is consistently associated with the disease, the causal links remain unproven. The symptoms of this disease are similar to those of another virus disease, i.e. the Grapevine Leafroll-associated Virus (GLRaV), while having some differences. The authors review the symptoms associated with this new disease and possible confusions with other symptoms caused by other diseases or accidents in the grapevine.
