The Messinian carbonate platform of the northeastern margin of the Kebdana inlier (N.E. Morocco) : sedimentary organization, dynamics. The sedimentary organization of the Messinian littoral deposits of the northern margin of the Kebdana metamorphic inlier is reconstructed. It is a mixed siliciclastic-carbonate retrograding sedimentation. Siliciclastic deposits were originated in the neighbouring metamorphics as in probably far and unknown areas. Coral buildups are patches or limited extent coral banks ; they developed wether in the immediate vicinity of the shoreline or some hundreds metres far from the shoreline. These Messinian deposits are considered as coe¬ val with the transgressive system tract at the base of the Messinian Melilla-Nador carbonate platform. The coral building activity in fact lasted during most of Messinian times in the Melilla-Nador basin, even since the beginning of the "Tortono-Messinian transgression".
