Abstract
This article analyzes definitions and use of the notion of "quality of life" in the disciplines of health and the environment. The authors, anthropologists, note that the quality of life is at the intersection of medical and social, perception and measurement, the individual and the collective. The definition of quality of life is difficult to define with precision for each discipline. The authors explain that health, although essential, is not the only factor that conditions the well-being of the population and emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach. In addition to the medical sciences, the approaches to geography, anthropology and, above all, ecology have their place in the study of human-environment relations that characterize quality of life situations. It is therefore important to discuss definitions of quality of life. Quality of life should be considered in a variety of times, places and cultures. Beyond analyzes, the quality of life includes a whole set of representations of good health, well-being and happiness
