Abstract
This article is part of a didactic approach to abstract algebra and more particularly to the didactics of algebraic structuralism. It reports on original work that has been carried out according to the methodology of didactic engineering and aims to answer the following research questions: Isit possible to construct a set of situations to facilitate the access to structuralist thinking? How to analyse and promote the conceptualisation ofan abstract algebraic structure? The theory of banquets (an invented structure) was elaborated and analysed using the Theory of DidacticSituations and an epistemological and semio-cognitive framework dedicated to structuralism: the "objects-structures dialectic". The results of aclassroom experiment are presented and discussed.
