Gay and lesbian sports have been a Favourite research object for twenty years. But these researches did not pay attention to the difficulties which gays and lesbians encounter to coordinate a leisure subculture and a social movement that aims a legal-political impact. This paper proposes to study this problematic articulation by focusing on autobiographical narratives by the leaders of the French homosexual sports movement and on the positions of these persons in their official bulletins. This work shows how gay and lesbian sports promote a new form of politicization, by taking a certain distance from the legal-political claims as well as from the gay and lesbian commercial leisure subculture. This new form of politicization does not hinder the logic of leisure and relies on a sportive performance of the body.
