Résumé
The processing of proteomics mass spectrometry (MS) data requires special computations that are out of the scope of classical software. There is a need for libraries dealing with MS-dedicated computations that would simplify the development of computer programs for proteomics by hiding some complicated computations. This would allow software specialists - or bioinformatics specialists - without detailed knowledge in proteomics computations to support their proteomics colleagues more efficiently. We introduced InSilicoSpectro a Perl library released under the LGPL license (free to use including in commercial software) that addresses this need (Colinge, Masselot, Carbonell, Appel, J Proteome Res, 2006, 5:619-624). We present here the current status of the project with new developments for MS data analysis.
