Abstract

Highlights • Permeability increase related to chalk dissolution is due to preferential flowpaths • The reactivity of homogeneous systems is determined by the hydrochemical conditions • Initial large-scale structural heterogeneities reduce the reactivity of the systems • Pre-existing large-scale heterogeneities control the location of newly created paths • Initial micro-scale heterogeneities result in highly heterogeneous general structures
