Abstract
Our article presents a participant observation carried out as part of training in judicial mediation within an association providing access to the law. For a week, around ten citizen volunteers take on the roles of mediators, observers and mediators to acquire the skills necessary to conduct judicial mediation (listening, restitution, positioning). Thus, through the observation of mediation scenarios and the exchanges between the student-mediators and the trainer, the article explores the different places of misunderstandings or communication difficulties. It allows us to better understand how judicial mediation operates to enable mediators to support those mediated in conflict by creating favorable conditions for agreement.
