Résumé
The study of travertine deposits, using palaeoenvironmental interpretations allow to characterize their relations with the karstic environment. Climate can be broadly reconstructed and chronological framework is specified by means of radiometric datings. The area of Perigord Quercy proved particularly rich in springs and valley travertine deposits. They are related to the main karstic sectors of the Northern Aquitaine carbonated platform. On the whole, forty deposits were listed, whose principal ones are presented here. Other tufa deposits more recently discovered are also presented.
