The surface heterogeneity of SiC powder oxidized at different temperatures was examined on the basis of adsorption isotherms of water and n-heptane vapour at 25°C. In order to study the influence of thermal oxidation upon the hydrophilic-hydrophobic character of the surface, the different samples of SiC were previously characterized: granulometry, XRD, MES and adsorption of N2 gas. The hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance determination of the sample surface was inferred from the adsorbed amount of probe molecules.
