Résumé
Small wickertraps used to catch
Macrobrachium (Crustacea: Decapoda) in the rivers of Polynesia are described. The traps were used in Nuku-Hiva (Marquesas Islands) to sample
Macrobrachium lar Fabricius and
Macrobrachium australe Guérin–Méneville. Effects of setting direction, colour, bait, and ballast were studied. The orientation of the trap aperture to the current was shown to have a significant effect.
