Résumé
Introduced for the first time into environmental policy as part of the reform of the French national park system in 2006, the concept of ecological solidarity is built on a compromise between ecocentric and anthropocentric ethics. In addition to providing a basis for ecological and social cohesion in policy for protected areas, this concept contributes to the debate for a new model of society which highlights social and ecological interdependency, the need to diminish environmental inequalities and injustice and the limits of the biosphere. In this way, ecological solidarity provides for a new natural contract to establish the limits of human actions on nature. //ABSTRACT IN FRENCH: Apparu pour la première fois dans le droit de l'environnement lors de la réforme de la Loi sur les parcs nationaux français, le concept de solidarité écologique ne se limite pas aux actions de protection des espèces ou habitats remarquables. Il fonde un compromis entre écocentrisme et anthropocentrisme, et contribue au débat sur notre modèle de société en insistant sur les interactions socio-écologiques. Il permet la prise de conscience: (1) des interdépendances fonctionnelles écologiques et sociales(2) des besoins de transparence pour lutter contre les inégalités et injustices environnementales(3) des limites de la biosphère et de l'importance de borner collectivement nos activités. La solidarité écologique participe ainsi à la transition vers un nouveau contrat naturel par lequel nous fixerons les limites de l'action humaine sur la nature.
