We present in this paper the preliminary results of an ongoing research project on early medieval landscapes in the Sierra de & Aacute;vila regarding the excavations at the site of La Coba (San Juan del Olmo). This site, interpreted as an early medieval village chronologically framed between the 7(th) and 10(th )centuries, in excavation since 2020, has provided abundant information which is analysed throughout this paper. A diverse dataset of aspects concerning quotidian live collected from the site is thoroughly described, among which is highlighted the internal spatial organization, the domestic architecture, the material culture-including metallographic and archaeobotanical analyses-, as well as radiocarbon dates carried out until the present. Finally, these results are discussed within the framework of current debates in early medieval historiography, such as state collapse, the creation of micropolitics or peasant-based economies.
