Résumé
This study focuses on the development and characterization of dense and thin film composite (TFC) membranes based on polymer of intrinsic microporosity (PIM-1). Various membrane formulations were fabricated, including PIM-1/Matrimid®5218 blends at ratios of 90/10 and 10/90 wt%, and PIM-1/6FDA-DAM:DABA (3:1) blends at ratios of 90/10, 50/50, 10/90, 5/95, and 2.5/97.5 vol./vol. Additionally, TFC membranes composed of cross-linked Matrimid®5218 (or Ultem) as a porous support with a thin PIM-1 top layer were prepared. Comprehensive characterization was performed using FTIR, BET, TGA, and DSC. The membranes were evaluated for their gas separation performance towards binary CO2/CH4 feed mixtures under various feed pressures. Despite the limited miscibility of PIM-1 and 6FDA-DAM:DABA (3:1), the resulting membranes demonstrated excellent separation performance with 2.5 and 5 vol% PIM-1. Overall, the blending of 6FDA-DAM:DABA (3:1) with PIM-1 increased permeability from 96 (pure polyimide) to 490 (2.5 vol% PIM-1) and 670 Barrer (5 vol% PIM-1), respectively. Although the addition of PIM-1 as an organic filler reduced selectivity by 33 %, the performance of both membranes surpassed the Robeson 2008 upper limit.
