Abstract
The reedbeds are complex socio-ecological systems. In the context of their decline, a role-playing game called ButorStar was developed. This tool focuses on the social dialogue learning approach and the understanding of the socio-ecological processes. The structure of the role-playing game and the multi-agent model are presented. To test the interest of the tool in a companion modelling approach, two game sessions were organised with the stakeholders of the Vendres lake (Hérault, France). The first results showed that the approach contributes to increase the capacity of the stakeholders to adopt a way of interacting to promote an adaptive management of the lake. The follow up of this experiment should allow evaluating the social changes induced by the approach and their contribution to sustainable development.
