Abstract
How can I explain the dissemination of DRT programs and policies in Latin America ? From my perspective, the DTR approach emerged in the early 2000s as a reaction to four new phenomena that are present in Latin America. First, an increase in the complexity of the rural world, because agriculture must be the only economic activity that will unfold in rural areas. This implies that policymakers plan to try to enhance multiple economic activities: manufacturing, tourism, handicrafts, commerce, other services. time, agriculture is an activity sector marked by specificities that justify a renewal of concepts and methods for the analysis of their policies.
