Abstract
This article proposes to analyze the transfor¬mations of the profession of teacher-researcher in the context of the deployment of the new public management in universities. The meaning of work and the professional identity of the teacher-researcher manager, who is seen as an entrepreneur, are thus debated in the context of managing the public organization that employs him/her. The two case studies are based on a reflective approach, including the authors of this article. These lecturers-researchers are involved in the administration of their universities and also in the management of diplomas. The research shows an emerging profession, professionals which are developing entrepre¬neurship qualities for themselves. They are committed to the public service, mixing several and different activities.
