Abstract
On the basis of a model study,a perfluoroelastomer based on TFE, 8-CNVE and PMVE, that bears pendant nitrile groupswas successfully crosslinked with a bis-azido fluorinated curing agent by “click” azide–nitrile cycloaddition. This bis-azido fluorinated was prepared in a two-step reaction from 1,6-diiodoperfluorohexane. The termogravimetric analyses of the resulting press cured films revealed an improvement by about 20 C of the thermal degradation profile under air, compared to that of the corresponding uncured fluoroelastomer. This method is simple to implementand requires much less energy than that currently used in the fluoroelastomers industry.
