Résumé
This article introduces the review's file on Italy by reminding the traditional perception that has prevailed on Italian politics in mainstream political science for some decades. More specifically it performs a review of the French political science literature which records a rather weak attention dedicated to Italy during the postwar period. The transition towards a "Second Republic" in the 1990s is not only a deep political change but also an academic revolution within French political studies on Italy that have become more numerous & more diversified. However, beyond the French academic production, Italy is still largely considered as a deviant case among Western democracies, & most of the current studies -- like those "made in Italy" included in this issue of Pole Sud -- try to assess to what extent a genuine political transformation has been achieved. 148 References.
