The history of codification in commercial law can be completed by updating a new project of code probably drawn up at the beginning of 1804 by the Chamber of Commerce of Pans. At that time, Frochot, «Préfet» of the Seine region was the President and the Chamber of Commerce was composed of the most eminent merchants, manufacturers and bankers and also three regents of the Bank of France. The complete project of code distinguishes two parts in commercial law. The first part deals with bills of exchange, duties and rights of merchants. The second part deals with Courts of Commerce and bankruptcies. The deputies of Paris who worked on the revised Gorneau project which includes about 300 articles only suppressed about fifteen of them and modified about thirty. But for strange and unexplained reasons, it does not seem that the complete project drawn up by the «Députés» of Paris had been used in the final writing of the Code of Commerce of 1807 even if about half of the amendments proposed by the Chamber of Commerce of Paris were to be found in this Code.
