Résumé
New fossils collected at Durfort (Gard, Southern France), a locality known since the end of the 19th century, allow identifying rodents, Mimomys savini, Apodemus sylvaticus, and Glis glis, an indeterminate talpid, and the rhinocerotid Stephanorhinus etruscus brachycephalus. It is the first time that small mammals are collected in this locality. The fossils agree with the early middle Pleistocene age already given to the fauna of Durfort (1.0-0.8 My). At that time, the environment was a mixed one (closed and opened vegetation) under a temperate climate.
