Abstract

Curculionidae Molytinae Hylobiini Ficus carica Alien species
A weevil species of the genus Aclees (Curculionidae: Molytinae) is reported from the Var and Haute-Corse departments. Waiting for its precise identification, we refer to it by the provisional name Aclees sp. cf. foveatus. This invasive species, probably of Asian origin, was also introduced in Italy where it is responsible for serious damage on fig trees. Apart from two occasional records on bonsai trees in 1990 and 2003, this is the first field record of a species of Aclees in France.
