We discuss the problem of ^sup 3^He and ^sup 7^Li production and destruction by low and intermediate mass stars, in connection with abundance anomalies in RGB and AGB stars. We focus on the ^sup 7^Li rich episodes which are expected to occur at the RGB bump and on the early-AGB and account for the so-called Li-rich giants.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
