The emergence of digital technology has revolutionized the world, leading to a paradigm shift in the understanding of illness and the healthcare model. Firstly, we will address lower back pain, which refers to pain in the lumbar region. According to studies, it affects approximately 80% of the general population. It is classified as chronic when it persists for more than 3 months. Today, it has a significant economic impact that compels us to rework its management, as it is not evolving in the desired direction and continues to wreak havoc. It is a complex condition that needs to be approached from multiple angles. It requires a multidisciplinary approach, adopting a so-called "bio-psycho-social" model. We will trace the evolution of the disease over time, the changes that have influenced our perception, and their consequences on treatment. Secondly, this will allow us to present the recommended management approach today and highlight its limitations. In the third part, we will emphasize the emergence of therapeutic patient education and the significant advances it brings, enabling individuals to become active participants in their health. We will delve into the connection between this new approach and digital technology. It highlights the duality of computing as both a factor in pathology and a means of treatment. We will then describe proposed applications. Finally, we will conclude by addressing the essential role played by pharmacists, who, through their daily advice to patients, bridge the gap with these new therapies.
