In France, venlafaxine is a widely prescribed antidepressant for treating depressive and anxiety disorders. However, its use raises concerns regarding cardiovascular risks, particularly due to its effects on the cardiac system as described in the scientific literature. Through an in-depth study of the pharmacological mechanism of action of venlafaxine, as well as a critical analysis of clinical studies, this work highlights the cardiovascular risks associated with this treatment. This thesis also emphasizes the importance of considering preexisting cardiovascular risk factors that may increase patients' vulnerability to these adverse effects. The objective of this thesis is to gain a better understanding of the cardiovascular risk associated with venlafaxine in patients with cardiovascular predispositions, while integrating this knowledge into a broader perspective of comprehensive patient care.
