Résumé
A French report of January 2022, requested by the french government, suggests to place primary care medicine with higher responsibility in the Health of transgender patients, especially for the care of minors. Gender dysphoria can lead to affective and anxiety and personality disorders, suicide attempts and self-inflicted injuries, that is why the care for transgender patients is fundamental in the context of primary prevention. Method: this survey is a descriptive, comparative quantitative study. A questionnaire was sent to the general practitioners residents of the faculties of Montpellier and Toulouse, all years combined. Results: 189 residents responded to this survey. We obtain 48.6% of answers “I don’t know” on the 11 questions out of 30 allowing to assess theoretical knowledge. We also learn that only 26.5% of the residents would be comfortable welcoming a transgender child/adolescent and their parents and 30.7% would know which specialists to refer them to. Finally, 97% of residents are interested in a training concerning this subject. Conclusion: while the health of children and adolescents with gender dysphoria becomes a public health issue, young health professionals seem not to have sufficient knowledge on the subject but are motivated to have a training.
